Marshfield’s boys (9-1, 21-4) moved into a tie for first-place in the 4A District 4 prep basketball race with a 50-35 win at Junction City Friday night. The two teams finish the regular season with 9-1 league records. The Marshfield girls (6-4, 16-8) lost at JC 47-25 but finish third in the league qualifying for the upcoming playoffs.

North Bend’s girls lost at home Friday 62-23 to visiting Crater in a 5A Midwestern League basketball game. The Bulldogs (5-9, 11-12) are scheduled to play at Thurston on Feb. 25. North Bend’s boys lost to Crater 75-47. Like the girls, the Bulldogs (0-14, 2-21) are at Thurston on Feb. 25.

Marshfield’s boys tied for 7th place at the OSAA State 4A Swim Championships Saturday at the Tualatin Hills Aquatic Center in Beaverton. Catlin Gabel took first place. Boys results: 200 Medley Relay Marshfield 4th 1:48.15 Jack Waddington, Aaron Hutchins, Markus Kliewer, Trey Kirk; 200 Freestyle Kirk 6th 1:53.08; 500 Freestyle Kirk 6th 5:14.95; 200 Freestyle Relay 5th 1:38.20 Trevor Robbins Quinton Kloster, Waddington, Hutchins; 100 Breaststroke Waddington 5th 1:04.84; Hutchins 6th 1:06.57; 400 Free Relay 3rd 3:30.77 Hutchins, Kliewer, Waddington, Kirk. The Pirate girls finished 18th. Sweet Home took first. Girls results: 100 Butterfly Allison Wright 4th 1:03.36; 100 Backstroke Wright 8th 1:06.24.
