Final Prep Girl’s BBX Polls
Marshfield is maintaining its No. 4 ranking in the final OSAA/Coach’s 4A Girl’s Weekly Basketball Poll. The Lady Pirates (17-5) trail No. 1 Baker (21-2), No. 2 Gladstone (19-4), and No. 3 Astoria (21-2). Also from the South Coast, Bandon’s girls are ranked No. 5 in the final 2A Poll. The OSAA State 3A Girl’s Tournament will be held March 2-4 in the Bay Area. In the final 3A Girl’s Poll, Corbett (22-3) is ranked No. 1, followed by No. 2 Sutherlin (25-2), No. 3 Banks (24-2), No. 4 Amity (20-4), No. 5 Santiam Christian (22-5), No. 6 Nyssa (21-4), No. 7 Pleasant Hill (21-1), No. 9 Lakeview (23-4), and No. 10 Riverdale (19-8). Marshfield’s girls lost to Marist Catholic 46-28 in a District 4 league playoff basketball game at Siuslaw in Florence Tuesday night. With the win, the Spartans (17-6) are the No. 1 team from District 4 and the Lady Pirates (17-6) No. 2. Both teams will receive a bye from the OSAA Play-In Round and instead host a First-Round game on March 3rd.

Coquille’s girls advance to the second round of the OSAA 3A basketball playoffs with a 59-44 win over visiting Horizon Christian, Tualatin Tuesday. The Red Devils (20-8) advance to play at No. 3 seed Corbett (22-3) on Friday, Feb. 24. Brookings-Harbor (16-11) lost their first-round matchup with Burns 43-55. Burns (17-10) advances to play top-seed Banks (24-2) Friday, Feb. 24.

Coquille’s drive to make the OSAA 3A Boys State Tournament starts at Harrisburg Wednesday, Feb. 22, 7 p.m. The winner plays at top-ranked De LaSalle North Catholic Saturday, Feb. 25.

OSAA Bxb Playoffs
All five of the District 4 boy’s prep basketball teams advance to post season play following the OSAA ranking freeze Tuesday night. Marshfield (11-14) has the longest road trip traveling to La Grande (11-11) to face the Tigers on Saturday, Feb. 25. Junction City (22-2) got a bye as league champions. Second-place Marist Catholic (12-11) will host Scappoose (10-14), North Bend (10-13) travels to Madras (12-11) and Cottage Grove (10-14) is at North Marion (16-6).
