Junction City’s boys and girls swept Marshfield Friday night in a 4A District 4 showdown between the league’s only unbeaten teams. The Tigers take over sole possession of first place in both races. The Pirates boys fell by one-point, 43-42, while JC’s girls won 41-27. The Pirate girls return to league play Tuesday, Feb. 1, at Marist Catholic in Eugene. Marshfield’s boys will host Cottage Grove Friday, Feb. 4.

Marshfield’s boys came from behind to beat 6A Grants Pass 52-48 in a non-conference basketball game at the Pirate Palace, Coos Bay, Saturday. The Pirates (4-1, 16-3) are scheduled to host Cottage Grove on Friday, Feb. 4.

North Bend’s basketball teams got a split at Ashland in a 5A Midwestern League doubleheader Friday. The girls (3-4, 9-7) won 62-27, but the Bulldog boys (0-8, 2-15) lost 58-34. North Bend is scheduled to host Springfield Tuesday.
