Marshfield’s win over previous unbeaten and top-ranked Baker help propel the Lady Pirates (8-4) up the weekly OSAA/Coach’s Poll to No. 4 this week. Gladstone (9-2) takes over the top spot, followed by Astoria (9-2), then Baker (7-1) at No. 3. Coquille’s girls (7-3) show up as No. 10 this week in the 3A Poll, and Bandon (8-2) is No. 3 in the 2A Poll.

Coquille (6-5) handed Marshfield a 58-56 prep boys’ basketball loss at the Pirate Palace, Coos Bay, Tuesday. The Pirates (6-6) are next scheduled to play in the annual Skyline/SkyEm Crossover Tournament this weekend in the Klamath Basin. MHS opens Friday, Jan. 6, 7:30 p.m., against Klamath Union, at KU. On Saturday, the Pirates will play Phoenix, 11 a.m., at Henley HS.
