MHS Hall of Fame Inductees Announced
MHS release – Marshfield High School will hold it’s 2022 Hall of Fame Induction on Saturday, April 9, 2022. The 2022 Inductees are: Wayne Laurila, class of 1969, Denny Baker, class of 56, Sam Scott, Class of 78, Mike George, Class of 73 and Mary Paczesniak, Class of 1968. Also being inducted will be the 2004 State Championship Dance Team and Tower Ford, a longtime Booster of MHS athletics. The event will be held in the Salmon Room, Mill Casino, North Bend, April 9, 2022. Doors open at 4:30pm. Tickets are $60.00 and include dinner as well as entry into the silent & oral auction. They may be purchased by calling the MHS Athletic Office at 541-267-1441. This event is a fundraiser for MHS Athletics.

High school dance state championships this week
OSAA release – The OSAA / OnPoint Community Credit Union Dance/Drill State Championships are scheduled for Friday and Saturday, March 18-19 at Oregon City High School. More than 1,200 dancers representing teams from 54 Oregon high schools will compete for titles in four divisions. 4A/3A/2A/1A and Show teams perform Friday. 4A/3A/2A/1A performances begin at 11:15 p.m. and Show at 7 p.m. 6A and 5A teams perform Saturday. 6A performances begin at 12:15 p.m. and 5A at 7:45 p.m. Doors open one hour prior to the first performance. Each day’s schedule will conclude with a drill down competition, all-state team performance, trophy presentation and grand finale. Marshfield’s softball team fell 13-0 (5) at South Umpqua Thursday in a non-conference game at Tri-City. The Lady Pirates (1-1) Head to the Newport Spring Tournament to face Toledo 11 a.m., Monday, followed by Astoria at 1 p.m. North Bend’s softball team is scheduled to host Crater in a 5A doubleheader Friday, 2 & 4 p.m. at the Oak St. Fields.

North Bend is scheduled to host Crater in a 5A baseball doubleheader Friday, 2 & 4 p.m., Clyde Allen Field. Marshfield is scheduled to take on Cascade in a 4A baseball game at Cottage Grove, Friday, 4 p.m. That game will be broadcast live on FM 105.1, KMHS and streamed on-line at www.kmhsonline.com

North Bend sophomore Jason Padget won both the 100 (11.67) & 200 (23.25) to highlight the opening track meet of the 2022 prep season at the Marshfield Icebreaker Thursday in Coos Bay. Marshfield senior Aaron Hutchins won the 400 (54.67) then teamed up with Trent Summers, Cael Church and Jonathon Parks to win the 400 Relay in 45.57. Pirate junior Alexander Garcia-Silver won the 1500 (4:19.02) and teamed up with Ismael Rodriguez, Jacob Calvert & Jonathon Parks to win the 1600 Relay (3:39.74). Marshfield senior Matthew Allen won both the Shot Put (39-7) & Discus (124-4) and the Pirates swept the Pole Vault with Summers winning at 14-8. For the girls, sophomore Daphne Scriven won both the Shot Put (30-5) & Discus (95-10). Marshfield will run a Youth Track Camp during Spring Break while North Bend’s next meet is March 30th hosting North Eugene.
