Marshfield’s baseball team dropped two-out-of-three games at the Newport Spring Break Tournament Monday and Tuesday on the Central Oregon Coast. The Pirates were in the “breakfast bracket” and played Philomath the first day but lost a close battle with the Warriors 8-7. The second game Marshfield played No. 1 Gladstone and lost 16-1 (5). On Tuesday morning, the Pirates played 5A Hillsboro and won 12-10 (6) in a time-shortened game. Marshfield (3-5) is off until April 4th when they host Sweet Home at Coos Bay.

Marshfield’s softball team got a split Monday during the first day of the Redmond Invite in Central Oregon. The Lady Pirates beat Sisters 20-6 (4) but then lost to top-ranked Cascade 7-5 in the second game. On Tuesday, Marshfield downed Corbett 4-3. The Lady Pirates (7-1) are scheduled to play at Sweet Home on April 4.

NBHS sb
North Bend softball’s trip to Northern California included four-games in two-days. The Bulldogs fell at Chico HS on Friday 7-1. Saturday was a tripleheader at the Anderson High Invite in Redding, CA. Shasta, CA won the first game 8-5, Las Plumas, CA took the second game 5-4. North Bend got a 13-2 win over host Anderson Union, CA in the third game before heading home. The Bulldogs (3-5) are slated to host Gladstone, Tuesday, April 4.

Prep SB Polls
Marshfield is No. 7 in this week’s OSAA/Coach’s 4A Softball Poll. The Lady Pirates (7-1)trail No. 1 Cascade (3-1), No. 2 Stayton (4-1), No. 3 Scappoose (9-1), No. 4 Marist Catholic (3-3), No. 5 Pendleton (7-2), and No. 6 Astoria (4-2). No other South Coast team made the weekly polls.

Prep BB Polls
Brookings-Harbor (4-1) is No. 9 in this week’s OSAA/Coach’s 3A Baseball Poll. The Bruins trail No. 1 Cascade Christian (3-1), Medford, and No. 2 South Umpqua (4-2). Reedsport (7-0) is No. 6 in the 2A/1A Poll and Bandon/Pacific (2-3) is No. 8.
