First-place North Bend swept visiting Marist Catholic 18-3 (3) & 9-3 in a pair of 4A District 4 softball games at the Oak St. Park Fields Friday. The Bulldogs (6-1, 9-8) are scheduled to play at Junction City on Tuesday. Second-place Marshfield went to JC on Friday and swept the Tigers 15-0 (3) & 17-6 (5). The Lady Pirates (6-2, 14-5) host Cottage Grove on Tuesday.

North Bend and Marist Catholic split a 4A District 4 baseball doubleheader Friday at Clyde Allen Field. The Spartans (5-1, 14-3) won the opener 8-1, but the Bulldogs (5-2, 9-6) took the second game 6-3. North Bend plays at Junction City (5-3, 9-7) Tuesday. Marshfield went to JC Friday and got swept by the Tigers 13-3 (6) & 10-7. The Pirates (0-7, 5-12) are home Tuesday to Cottage Grove (2-4, 5-8).

Coquille’s girls and North Bend’s boys captured the team championships at the 115th Annual Coos Co. Track & Field Meet at Coos Bay Friday night. The longest continuous prep track meet in the State of Oregon brings all of Coos County’s schools together for one night of competition. The Red Devils tallied 188.5 points to second-place North Bend 142, followed by Bandon 80, Marshfield 68, Myrtle Pt. 21 & Powers 1.5. North Bend scored 214-points, while Marshfield had 159 in the boy’s race. Myrtle Pt. was third 65, followed by Coquille 11, & Powers 7. Individually: North Bend junior Jason Padgett was the boys sprint champion with wins in the 100 (11.41) & 200 (23.30). Bandon freshman Marley Petrey topped the girl sprinters with wins in the 100 (13.26) & 400 (1:03.17). Padgett also ran the anchor leg on the Bulldogs winning 4X100 Relay team (Nathaniel Folsom, Andrew Efraimson, Brody Justice) 44.20. Petrey also tossed in a third win in the 300H (49.99). Marshfield senior Alexander Garcia Silver won the 1500 (3:59.74). Coquille’s Trinidy Blanton won the 200 (27.42) & Javelin (122-2) with the top mark in the 3A State this season. Red Devil junior Callie Millet threw 115-10 for the second best 3A mark. North Bend freshman Ellie Massey won the 1500 (5:08.98) & 3000 (11:38.69). North Bend’s relay teams won both the 4X100 (Kaylianna Mazzucchi, Abby Woodruff, Sophia Ryan, Lauren Efraimson) 55.86 & the 4X400 (Woodruff, Emma Slade, Massey, Efraimson) 4:31.72. Marshfield junior Daphne Scriven won both the Shot Put (33-1.75) & Discus (118-3). North Bend’s Woodruff won the Pole Vault (10-0). Jaxson Stovall, a freshman at Marshfield, won the 3000 (9:49.93) and second in the 1500 (4:23.87). Bulldog freshman Miles Washington took both hurdle races, 110HH (18.69) & 300IH (48.15). Marshfield’s 4X400 Relay team (Jack Waddington, Alexander Garcia Silver, Elijah Cellura, Bodey Lutes) took first place (3:28.00) in the fastest 4A time in the State this season. Pirate sophomore Bodey Lutes won the 800 (1:57.30). Myrtle Pt. junior Mason Detzler won the Shot Put (52-9) & Discus (162-10). North Bend senior Keegan Young won the Javelin (166-10), while Marshfield senior Jack Waddington took the High Jump (6-0). The Pole Vault went to the Bulldog senior Brody Justice (13-6), while Waddington was second (13-0) for the Pirates. Marshfield senior Mitchell George won the Long Jump (19-1.75). Marshfield and North Bend next compete in a District 4 JV Meet Tuesday at North Bend.
