North Bend’s softball team downed visiting Thurston 6-0 Tuesday in a 5A Midwestern League game at the Oak Street Fields. The Bulldogs (4-10, 9-13) are scheduled to play at Marshfield, Wednesday, 5 p.m. Marshfield qualified for the OSAA State 4A playoffs by finishing second in the District 4 League. The Pirates (14-11) are tentatively set to host Madras (13-11) in a Play-In Round game on Friday, 5 p.m.

Visiting Thurston beat North Bend 10-0 in a 5A Midwestern League baseball game Tuesday, Clyde Allen Field. The Bulldogs (1-13, 7-16) are scheduled to play at Marshfield Wednesday, 5 p.m. Marshfield qualified for the OSAA 4A playoffs by finishing second in the 4A District 4 League. The Pirates (15-9) will host Valley Catholic (10-11), Beaverton, tentatively set for Saturday.

Marshfield’s boys finished sixth at the OSAA 4A State Golf Championships Tuesday at Quail Valley Golf Course near Banks. Banks won the team title over Valley Catholic 661 to 664. Ben Mahaffy led the Pirates with a 12th place finish (84-80 164), he was followed by Gabe Mahaffy (82-88 170). Also for Marshfield, Oscar Day was tied for 29th (88-89 177), Ezra Waterman tied for 35th (93-89 182) & Mason Pederson tied for 38th (97-87 184). Elliot Lee, of Tillamook, was the medalist (73-5 148). Marshfield’s girls were fourth at Eagle Crest Ridge near Redmond. St. Mary’s won the championship. Freshman Bella Roberts led the Pirates tied for 14th (94-95 189); she was followed by freshman Analise McCord (99-100 199), Nyssa Haynes (102-105 207), Shay Herzog (106-107 213), & Paige Kirchner (120-113 233). Riley Hammerickson was the medalist for St. Mary’s (73-74 147). At the 5A Girls State Championship Emerald Valley near Creswell, North Bend was ninth. Wilsonville won. For the Bulldogs, Kamryn Craig tied for 29th (105-112 217); Jade Nanda was 47th (122-137 259); Jill Sorric 54th (135-233 359). The 5A boys were at Trysting Tree, Corvallis. North Bend’s Owen Bascom was 16th (80-80 160) & David Roberts (91-80 171).
