Marshfield’s baseball team fell 6-3 in an OSAA 4A “Play-In” playoff game at Newport Thursday. The Pirates end the season with a 7-16 record. North Bend will host Seaside Friday, 5 p.m., Clyde Allen Field, in another 4A “Play-In” game.

Unbeaten No. Douglas, the top-ranked 2A team, beat Marshfield 7-1 in a tune-up game for the upcoming OSAA playoff for both schools Thursday at Southwestern Oregon, Coos Bay. North Bend will host Seaside in an OSAA 4A Softball “Play-In” playoff game Friday, 3 p.m., Oak Street Park Fields.

North Bend freshman Raegan Farm is scheduled to open the OSAA 4A/3A/2A/1A State Tennis Championships at Oregon State University, Corvallis, Friday, May 19, against Sydney Liao, Scappoose. Farm is the No. 1 seed.

The 4A District 4 Track & Field Championships open Friday, 11 a.m., Vic Adams Field, Stevenson Track at North Bend HS. Some finals will be held on the first day, but most will take place on Saturday. Top two finishers in each event qualify for the State Championships or those who hit the automatic qualifying time or mark. Boys & girls’ teams competing include the host Pirates, NBHS, Marist Catholic, Cottage Grove and Junction City.
