Marshfield’s softball game scheduled at Cottage Grove Friday was postponed until Monday, May 2, 3 & 5p. North Bend’s softball game at Willamette was re-scheduled for Monday, 3 & 5p, weather permitting for both games.

Marshfield’s baseball team swept a 4A District 4 doubleheader at Cottage Grove Friday. The Pirates won 12-3 & 12-6. Senior Dom Montiel hit a three-run homer in the first game and got the win on the mound. Junior Luke Parry got the win in the second game. The Pirates (7-2, 11-7) are scheduled to host league leader Marist Catholic Tuesday, 5 p.m. North Bend’s doubleheader at Willamette was re-scheduled for Monday, 3 & 5p, weather permitting.

North Bend’s track team competed at the 72nd annual Grants Pass/Rotary Meet in Southern Oregon Saturday. Senior John Efraimson took second in the 400 (50.41). Freshman Drew Hood took first in the Frosh/Soph 100H (17.26), and was second in the Frosh/Soph Triple Jump (33-04). Senior Roman Fritz won the Javelin (195-05) while junior Keegan Young was fourth (162-09). Sophomore Wyatt Smith took first in the Frosh/Soph Javelin (140-10). Lupita Trujillo was third in the Pole Vault (9-06). Sophomores Abby Woodruff (10-03) & Roxy Day (9-06) went one-two in the Frosh/Soph Javelin. Junior Brody Justice leaped to fourth in the Pole Vault (13-00). North Bend hosts the Bulldog Last Chance Meet on Thursday, May 5, Frank Shriver Track.

Marshfield junior Alexander Garcia-Silver finished 13th in the varsity 3,200 at the Nike/Jesuit Twilight Relays Friday in Portland. Garcia-Silver ran an 9:12.84. His time en route at 3,000 meters was 8:42.06, 15th place. Marshfield boy’s 4X100 relay team (Aaron Hutchins, Elijah Fox, Cael Church, Jonah Putman) was 25th in 45.44. A 4X200 team (Hutchins, Fox, Dae Dae Bolley, Jonathon Parks) took 22nd (1:37.55). Pirate vaulters did well. Parks was second at 14-06, Trent Summers 3rd (14-00) & Danner Wilson tied for 6th (13-06). On Saturday, the rest of the Pirate track team was at Junction City. Parks came back and won the 200 (23.88), while senior Bailey Wallack also won the girls’ 200 (28.15) and was second in the 400 (1:02.83). Marshfield went one-two in the boys’ 400 with senior Cael Church winning (53.61) and Hutchins second (54.05). Sophomore Daphne Scriven was second in the Shot Put (32-3) and second in the Discus (104-7). Junior Kate Miles was runner-up in the Javelin (101-1) and freshman Keira Crawford won the High Jump (4-6). Junior Jack Waddington took second in the High Jump (5-10) while sophomore Danner Wilson won the Pole Vault (13-7). Parks was second in the Long Jump (19-11.75) and Waddington second in the Triple Jump (39-8). Nineteen teams competed with Junction City winning both the boy’s and girl’s titles. Marshfield’s boys were third and the Pirate girls sixth. Next up for the Pirates is a Sky-Em Varsity meet Tuesday, May 3rd, Prefontaine Track, Coos Bay.
