Today, Monday, Nov. 14, if the first day the Oregon Schools Activities Association (OSAA) allows its member schools to start practicing for Winter Sports, basketball, wrestling, swim, dance and cheer.

North Bend advanced to the OSAA 4A championship semi-finals for football with a 40-7 win over visiting Banks at Vic Adams Field in North Bend Friday night.  The unbeaten top-ranked Bulldogs will next play Estacada, a 44-34 winner over Ontario, in the semi-finals Saturday, Nov. 19, 5:30 p.m.  The Far West League’s other post season team, South Umpqua, lost 34-21 to defending state champion Cascade.  Cascade will play unbeaten Cottage Grove in the other semi-final at Hillsboro Stadium.  The Lions bettered Astoria 25-21.  In the 3A playoffs, Coquille advance to the semi-finals with a 52-21 win over visiting Cascade Christian of Medford.  The unbeaten Red Devils will play Harrisburg, a 28-12 winner over Rainier at Cottage Grove, Saturday, 2:15 p.m.   The two teams met during the league season and Coquille won at Harrisburg 20-7.  Powers was eliminated from the 1A playoffs with a 54-30 loss to Lowell at Marshfield High School in Coos Bay.

Newport beat Madras 2-1 Saturday at Liberty High School in Hillsboro to win the OSAA 4A Boys’ Soccer Championship.  North Valley beat Valley Catholic 2-1 to take the girl’s 4A title.
