Marshfield kept itself in the District 4 prep volleyball race with a 3-0 win at Elmira Tuesday. The Lady Pirates (6-3, 10-6) have one match remaining in the regular season at Junction City (6-3, 15-6) Thursday. JC, Marshfield and Siuslaw are tied for second place behind Cottage Grove (7-2, 13-6). Siuslaw (6-3, 13-7) is at Cottage Grove Thursday. North Bend beat visiting Thurston 3-1 Tuesday. The 2nd ranked Bulldogs (13-1, 18-1) have two matches remaining in the 5A Midwestern League at No. Eugene Thursday and home to Springfield Saturday.

North Bend’s girls lost 4-0 to visiting Willamette Tuesday in a 5A Midwestern League soccer match at Vic Adams Field. The Bulldogs (0-6, 0-9-1) are scheduled to play at No. Eugene Thursday. No. Bend’s boys also lost to the Wolverines, 7-0. The Bulldogs (1-5-1, 3-6-1) are scheduled to host Marshfield Oct. 26.

Unbeaten Marshfield remains on top of this week’s OSAA/Coach’s 4A Football Poll. The Pirates (7-0) garnered nine first place votes to two for No. 2 Cascade (7-0). Estacada (7-0) is No. 3, followed by Marist Catholic (6-1) and Mazama (5-2).
