Both North Bend and Marshfield’s prep cross-country teams will run in the 4A District 4 championships at Lane CC, Eugene, Thursday. The varsity races are slated for 2 p.m. girls and 2:45 p.m. boys.
4A District VB
District 4 volleyball league champion Marshfield swept the top-honors in all-league voting following the end of the regular season. While the Lady Pirates coach Tammie Montiel was honored as the Coach of the Year, she’s been Marshfield’s head coach for 19-seasons, two of her players were named co-MVP’s. Sophomore Tatum Montiel & junior Bridget Gould. Also named to the First Team were: Kate Miles and Paige MacDuff. Second Team: Ava Ainsworth & Gracie Peach. Honorable Mention: Alie Clark. North Bend had three players named to the Second Team: Mirra Riddle, Lennon Riddle & Emma Spaulding. Madison West was Honorable Mention. The times have been set for both teams OSAA First Round play-off matches on Saturday, Oct. 29. Marshfield will host La Grande, Pirate Palace, 3 p.m., while North Bend travels to Klamath Falls to play Mazama, Valhalla Court, 1:45 p.m.
District 4 Soccer All-League
All League selections have been announced for the girls’ and boys’ Bay Area prep soccer teams following the end of the 2022 regular season. Post season honors as voted on by the league’s coaches. MHS Girl’s: First Team: Milagrao Perez, Kaleigh England. Second Team: Rylinn Clark, Mallory Edd & Izzy Perez. Honorable Mention: Lucia Jimenez, Trinty Barker & Morgan Picatti. NBHS Girl’s: First Team – Kyla Daniels, Lauren Eframison, Erica McClintock, Brynn Buskerud. Second Team: Jasmine Gregory, Angel Andrade. Honorable Mention: Jordyn Prince. MHS boys: – First Team: Jose Yanez, Daniel Garcia, Gannon Frost. Second Tea: Jonah Putman & Jacob Eastwood. Honorable Mention: Jonah Martin, Spencer Davidson, Spencer Pederson & Jake Bennett. NBHS Boys: First Team — Steven Lua; Second Team — Henry Hood and Bryant Wicks; Honorable Mention — Finley Cheal.
Prep SC Playoffs
Times are set. Marshfield’s girls (7-5-2) will open the 4A prep soccer playoffs Friday, 4 p.m., at Pete Susick Stadium, Coos Bay against St. Helens (5-5-4). Marshfield’s boys (4-6-3) will host Cascade (6-6-2) Saturday, 12:30 p.m., also at Pete Susick Stadium. North Bend’s girls (6-5-2) will host Cascade (5-8) Saturday, 4:30 p.m. at Vic Adams Field.
