It was a Bay Area prep football win Friday night for both North Bend and Marshfield. The Bulldogs beat up on visiting Klamath Union 52-6 at Vic Adams Field. North Bend (1-2, 2-3) is scheduled to play at Stayton (2-1, 3-2) on Friday, Oct. 7. The Eagles won at Philomath Friday 33-14. Marshfield spotted visiting Junction City a touchdown before rolling off 29 straight points in a 29-7 Homecoming win at Pete Susick Stadium, Coos Bay. The Pirates (2-0, 4-1) are scheduled to play at Ashland Friday, Oct. 7. Ashland (0-3, 1-4) forfeited its game at Mazama Friday night. “due to a lack of players.”

Visiting 5A Crater (3-1-2) downed Marshfield’s boys 2-0 in a non-league prep soccer match Saturday at Pete Susick Stadium, Coos Bay. The Pirates (1-0-2, 1-5-2) return to 4A District 4 league play Tuesday at North Bend, 6p.

North Bend’s girls were fourth and the Bulldogs boys eighth at the annual Woahink Lake Cross-Country Invitational Saturday at East Woahink Lake, Honeyman State Park, south of Florence. The meet was hosted by Siuslaw. Philomath’s girls and Crater’s boy’s both won team titles. Junior Gavin Schmidt led the North Bend boys in 34th (20:14.2), while senior Sara Slade led the Bulldog girls in 23rd (24:31.5) on the 5K course. North Bend is next scheduled to run at the Cinnamon Roll run, Port Orford, Oct. 12.
