North Bend is ranked No. 5 in the latest OSAA 5A Coach’s Volleyball Poll. The Bulldogs (10-1) trail top ranked West Albany (15-2), La Salle Prep (11-3), Crescent Valley (11-2) and Wilsonville (10-3). Reedsport (11-5) and Coquille (8-3) are No. 7 & No. 8 in the 2A Poll.

Marshfield, the top-ranked 4A team in the state, improved to 5-0 Friday night with a 57-0 win over visiting Stayton. The Pirates are scheduled to play at Cottage Grove Friday, but a report of a COVID-19 quarantine has been reported among the Lions and a different opponent is being sought. North Bend traveled to west Eugene for a 5A Midwestern League game with Churchill. The Lancers won 51-0. The Bulldogs (1-3, 1-3) are scheduled to play at Springfield, Friday, Oct. 8, 7 p.m.

Marshfield hosts Marist Catholic in a District 4 girl’s prep soccer match at Pete Susick Stadium, Monday, 4 p.m. The Pirate boys travel to Eugene to play the Spartans at 6 p.m. North Bend’s boys beat visiting Crescent Valley 3-2 Saturday in a non-league soccer match. The Bulldogs (1-2, 3-3) are scheduled to next play at Springfield Thursday. North Bend girls vs. Crescent Valley was cancelled.

Siuslaw’s boys won their own Woahink Lake XC Invitational Saturday south of Florence. North Bend was eighth. Junior Gavin Schmidt led the Bulldogs in 39th (19:47.10), junior Nathaniel Folsom 50th (20:29.30), junior Benjamin Swank 51st (20:29.50), junior Evan Hernandez 55th (20:39.70) & 56th junior Brandon Stinson (20:41.20). No. Medford won the girl’s race while North Bend was seventh. Junior Sara Slade led the Bulldogs, 19th (22:12.60), freshman Emma Slade 36th (23:42.30), sophomore Abby Woodruff 42nd (24:11.70), freshman Clara Messner 45th (24:37.20) and sophomore Maryam Qadir 50th (27:36.20). North Bend is next scheduled to run at the Springfield Invite, Oct. 9.
