It was a Bay Area sweep in 4A District 4 prep volleyball Tuesday night. Both Marshfield and North Bend were at home and each won in three-sets. The top-ranked Lady Pirates dispatched Cottage Grove 25-6, 25-10, 25-10, while over at North Bend, the Lady Bulldogs downed Junction City 25-19, 25-11, 25-20. Marshfield (6-0, 14-2) will host 5A Crater (12-4, 7-0, 1st in the 5A MWL, ranked No. 5) in a non-league match Friday at the Pirate Palace, Coos Bay, 5:45 p.m. North Bend (4-2, 10-6) 2nd in District 4, next plays at Cottage Grove Monday, 7 p.m.

Marshfield and Junction City tied on the road 1-1 Thursday in a 4A District 4 boys’ soccer match at JC. North Bend fell at home to visiting first-place Marist Catholic 3-0. The second-place Pirates (2-0-3, 2-5-3) host Cottage Grove Tuesday, Oct. 11th. The Bulldog boys (0-5, 1-8-1) host Junction City Tuesday, Oct. 11th. North Bend’s girls also lost at home to the top-ranked Spartans, 6-0. North Bend (1-2-2, 3-5-2) is in third-place and is scheduled to host Junction City Tuesday, Oct. 11th. Marshfield’s girls won 2-0 at Junction City. The Lady Pirates (3-1-1, 6-3-2) are in second place and will host Cottage Grove on Tuesday, Oct. 11.

Marshfield travels to Ashland in a 4A Big Sky Conference football game Friday. Kickoff 7p. North Bend has a non-league game at Stayton Friday, 7p kickoff. Both games will be broadcast back to the Bay Area, Marshfield on KMHS and North Bend on K-Light.
Prep FB Polls
Marshfield is ranked No. 8 in this week’s 4A OSAA/Coach’s Weekly Prep Football Poll. The Pirates (4-1) trail No. 1 Mazama (5-0), No. 2 Pendleton/Nixyaawii (4-1) No. 3 Henley (5-0); No. 4 Estacada (4-1) and No. 5 Marist Catholic (4-1). The only team to beat Marshfield this season as Cascade. The Cougars (3-2) dropped out of this week’s poll.
Prep XC Polls
At the midway point of the Prep Cross-Country Season, Marshfield’s boys are ranked No. 6 in the 4A Poll. Philomath is ranked No. 1, followed by Marist Catholic, The Dalles, Hidden Valley and Astoria. Siuslaw leads the 3A boy’s poll and Bandon is third in the 2A/1A poll. Siuslaw girls also top the 3A/2A/1A poll with Bandon second.
