Both Bay Area prep football teams picked up home wins Friday night. Marshfield held Homecoming and downed visiting Ashland 22-13 at Pete Susick Stadium, while North Bend held its annual Hall of Fame Game and beat visiting Stayton 42-7 in a non-league contest at Vic Adams Field. The Bulldogs (2-1, 6-1) host Hidden Valley, Friday, Oct. 13, 7 p.m., and the Pirates (2-1, 3-3) play at 4A District 4 League leader Henley (3-0, 6-0), Friday, Oct. 13, 7 p.m. In 3A, Siuslaw fell at Elmira 67-46, and Brookings-Harbor lost at So. Umpqua 47-19. In 2A, Gold Beach won at Reedsport 54-12 and Illinois Valley beat visiting Bandon/Pacific 14-7. In 1A8 – Myrtle Pt. won at Bonanza 50-14, and in 1A6 – Powers picked up a forfeit from Glendale. On Saturday, visiting Lakeview beat Coquille 19-0 in a 3A contest.

In 1A volleyball Saturday, Powers won at Yoncalla 3-0. On Monday, 1A – Myrtle Pt. at Glendale, & Elkton at Pacific, both 6 p.m. In 2A – Gold Beach at Waldport, 6 p.m. In 3A – Siuslaw at Creswell, 6:30 p.m. In 4A – Cottage Grove at North Bend, 6:30 p.m.

In girls’ soccer, 3A/2A/1A Saturday – Sutherlin won at Coquille/Myrtle Pt., 6-1; no score Brookings-Harbor boys at St. Mary’s Saturday. On Monday, Marshfield boys at Cottage Grove, 5 p.m., in a 4A District 4 match. And, Marshfield girls at Cottage Grove, 7 p.m. 3A/2A/1A girls has Brookings-Harbor at Douglas, 4 p.m.

North Bend’s girls were second to Grants Pass at the Stan Goodell The Legend Invite cross-country meet Saturday at Hidden Valley High School south of Grants Pass. Freshman Bryleigh Mead led the Bulldogs in sixth (22:50.19), while sophomore Ellie Massey was 8th (23:04.39) on the 5K course. North Bend’s boys were ninth as junior Matix Wolfe placed 27th (20:19.10). North Bend next runs Wednesday, Oct. 11, Pacific High School’s Cinnamon Roll Invite at Buffinton Park, Port Orford.
