Marshfield improved to 5-1 in the prep volleyball preseason with a three-set sweep of visiting Coquille Thursday night at the Pirate Palace in Coos Bay. The Lady Pirates are scheduled to play at Horizon Christian Tualatin Friday, 5p, and then the Cascade Tournament on Saturday at Turner. North Bend lost to Coquille 3-2 in the second match at the Pirate Palace. The Bulldogs (2-3) are scheduled to play at Marist Catholic Thursday, Sept. 15, 7p.
4A FB Poll
Marshfield dropped one-notch in this week’s OSAA/Coach’s 4A Football Poll to No. 6. The Pirates (1-0) won their opener over No. 10 Tillamook. Marshfield is at No. 9 Cascade (0-1) Friday. Mazama (1-0) took over the top spot followed by Marist Catholic (1-0), former No. 1 Pendleton/Nixyaawii (1-0), Scappoose (1-0) and Estacada (0-1).
4A GSC Poll
Marshfield’s girls are No. 5 in this week’s OSAA/Coach’s 4A Soccer Poll. The Lady Pirates (2-0) trail No. 1 Marist Catholic, Scappoose, Gladstone & Hidden Valley.

Both Bay Area prep football teams are on the road for their second games of the 2022 season. Marshfield travels to Turner (SE of Salem) to play Cascade, while North Bend ventures to West Eugene to play the Willamette Wolverines. Both games kickoff at 7p. The Marshfield game will be broadcast live on FM 105.1 and streamed at www.kmhsonline.com

Marshfield’s cross country coach Steve Delgado has opted out of Saturday’s Ash Creek Run at Monmouth due to the forecast of high heat in the valley. One Pirate runner has decided to compete, senior Alexander Silver/Garcia. North Bend is scheduled to run Saturday, 12:15p, at the Marist Catholic Classic at Eugene.

North Bend’s boys are headed to Prineville to play Crook Co. Saturday, 1p in a prep soccer match. North Bend’s girls will also travel to Central Oregon to take on CC also at 1p. Marshfield’s girls are scheduled to host Newport Saturday, noon, Pete Susick Stadium.
