North Bend joined Marshfield at the Pirates’ Ice Break Track Meet on Prefontaine Track at Pete Susick Stadium, Coos Bay Friday. It was the season opener for the two Bay Area prep teams, and both enjoyed the Spring sunshine. On the track, North Bend sophomore Celeste Le took both the 100 (13.84) & the 200 (29.02), while classmate Sara Slade won both the 1500 (5:28.81) & the 3000 (11:50.85). Sophomore Alexander Garcia-Silver did the same on the boy’s side winning the 1500 (4:17.52) & the 3000 (9:31.44). Marshfield senior Sydney Trendell won both hurdle races, 100H (21.06) & the 300IH (59.84). Bulldog senior Randee Cunningham won both the Long Jump (14-09) & the Triple Jump (32-03.50). Pirate senior Sam Grayson, who won the 100 (11.93), also won the High Jump (5-06). Sophomore Trent Summers won the Pole Vault (13-06) for Marshfield and junior Roman Fritz won the Javelin (173-07) for North Bend. Marshfield hosts Junction City Tuesday, April 20, first event 4:30 p.m. North Bend’s next meet is the Central Coast Invitational at Florence Friday, April 23.
