Coos Co. Track Meet
North Bend’s track teams swept the 116th Annual Coos Co. Track Meet on Prefontaine Track inside Pete Susick Stadium at Marshfield High School Friday night. The Bulldogs used their depth to overcome the talent of the Marshfield boys and Coquille girls to win the meet. North Bend’s boys won seven of the 17-events contested, while the Pirates also took seven, but the Bulldogs swept the Triple Jump going 1-2-3, while Marshfield swept the Pole vault, also going 1-2-3 as senior Danner Wilson set a new 4A leading mark at 15-0 (also second best overall in the State). North Bend went 1-2 in the 300IH and the High Jump, while Marshfield swept the 400 with junior Bodey Lutes running a 48.95. The Bulldogs racked up eight runners-up finishes to the Pirates six. And, in the third place slots, North Bend got eight, and Marshfield three. Final tally was North Bend with 201, followed by Marshfield with 156, Myrtle Point 62, Bandon 42, Coquille 21 & Powers 7. Mason Detzler was a double winner for Myrtle Point in the Shot Put (54-4) and the Discus (163-1). Marshfield’s 4X100R team ran the third fastest time (43.38) in the 4A classification. North Bend’s Miles Baxter took both the High Jump (6-2) and the Long Jump (19-8.5) and was second in the Triple Jump (39-6.75). North Bend won the girls’ team race with 172-points. Coquille was second with 105.5, followed by Bandon 90, Marshfield 75.5, Myrtle Pt. 54 & Powers 12. The Bulldogs had double winners with sophomore Lauren Efraimson in the 400 (1:03.49) & Triple Jump (35-03.75), the top mark in 4A this season. She was also second in the 300H (51.48) and ran a leg on the winning 4X400R (4:21.37). Sophomore Ellie Massey won both the 1500 (5:00.64) & 3000 (11:02.08) as well as running a leg on the 4X400R. Senior Roxy Day won the Pole Vault (10-0) with the third best mark 4A this season. Coquille junior Holli Vigue won both the Shot Put (34-6.75) and the Discus (127-10). Next up for Marshfield and North Bend is a 4A Sky-Em JV District meet at Junction City, Tuesday, April 30. Coquille, Bandon & Myrtle Pt. have the Pacific Invite on Wednesday, May 1.
