Prep Track & Field Leaders
Nearing the halfway point of the 2023 Prep Track & Field Season, several Bay Area athletes top the 4A Classification according to Athletic.Net. On the boy’s side, North Bend junior Jason Padgett ran the fastest time among 4A sprinters last Saturday in the 100 (11:20) at Roseburg. Marshfield sophomore Bodey Lutes also ran the fastest time in the 400 (49.82) at Roseburg. Earlier, at the Prefontaine Rotary Meet, Coos Bay, he ran the fastest time in the 800 (1:56.21). The Pirates also have the State Leader in the 1500 (3:57.47). Alexander Garcia Silver did that back on March 11th at Eugene. The senior also holds the top time in the 3000 (8:32.10) from March 18th at Eugene. North Bend’s 4X100 Relay team (Nathaniel Folsom, Andrew Efraimson, Brody Justice & Jason Padgett) has the top time (43.79) set last weekend at Roseburg, while Marshfield’s 4X400 Relay team (Bodey Lutes, Jack Waddington, Elijah Cellura & Jonathon Parks) leads the 4A (3:33.05) from an April 11th league meet. The top four in the Pole Vault are all Bay Area jumpers: MHS junior Danner Wilson (14-6), junior Jonathon Parks (14-6), & senior Trent Summers (14-0). For the Bulldogs senior Brody Justice (14-0). The Pirates Qwentyn Petty set the top mark in the Long Jump competing unattached April 1st. Marshfield’s girls are led by junior Daphne Scriven, 3rd in the Shot Put (36-0.5) and second in the Discus (125-0). Senior Kate Miles is second in the Javelin (116-0), set at Roseburg. North Bend junior Abby Woodruff tops the Pole Vault (10-6) also set at Roseburg. Bulldog junior Roxy Day is fourth in the PV (9-0).

Marshfield’s Chance Browning won two events at a 4A District 4 JV track & field meet at Marshfield Tuesday. The junior won the Javelin (133-0) and took the Shot Put (40-9.75). His sister, Caitlyn Browning also won the Javelin (98-3). Other winners for the Pirates included: freshman Jaxson Stovall 1500 (4:29.45); sophomore Elijah Cellura 800 (2:08.64); senior Mekhi Johnson 200 (24.60); sophomore Alie Clarke 100 (14.29); freshman Mallory Edd 800 (2:42.82); and, junior Jenna Erickson Long Jump (14-1.5). Marshfield’s varsity team heads to the Oregon Relays Friday & Saturday at Eugene.

North Bend’s track team competed in a 4A District 4 JV track meet Tuesday at Marist Catholic, Eugene. Winners for the Bulldogs included: freshman Steven Burgess 1500 (5:19.66); freshman Miles Washington 110HH (19.77); 4X100 Relay (Nathaniel Folsom, Andrew Efraimson, Brody Justice, Cole Hansen) (45.29); 4X400 Relay (Folsom, Efraimson, Henry Hood, Justice) (3:39.02); senior Keegan Young Discus (109-1) and Long Jump (17-9.5); sophomore Landon Takenaka-Gaul Triple Jump (35-10.25); junior Lennon Riddle Triple Jump (31-2); junior Emily Hampton Discus (94-6); 4X400 Relay (Abby Woodruff, Emma Slade, Rhyn Riddle, Lauren Efraimson) (4:30.49). North Bend’s team is scheduled to compete at the Oregon Relays Friday & Saturday, Eugene.
