Marshfield won its 2018 prep volleyball season opener in three straight sets 3-0 at Newport Tuesday night. The Lady Pirates (1-0) play at Phoenix Thursday (3p) to take on the host Pirates as well as South Medford (4:30p). Visiting North Eugene beat North Bend 3-0 (25-7, 25-7, 25-9) in a 5A Midwestern League opener. The Bulldogs (0-2, 0-3) are scheduled to play at Springfield Thursday, 6:45 p.m.
