Marshfield’s climb to the 4A prep volleyball post season continued Thursday night at the Pirate Palace in Coos Bay with a 3-0 sweep of visiting Marist Catholic. The victory puts the Lady Pirates in third place, one behind Cottage Grove with one to go. The Lions fell 3-1 at league champion Junction City (9-0, 15-3) 3-1 Thursday night. Marshfield (5-4, 12-8) ends the regular season by hosting Elmira next Tuesday, while Cottage Grove (6-3, 10-9) goes to Marist Catholic (3-6, 3-13) in Eugene. North Bend lost 3-0 at Churchill in Eugene Thursday night in a 5A Midwestern League match. The Bulldogs (7-6, 9-6) are in fifth place and will complete in the Marshfield Invitational Saturday, and then back into league play Tuesday at home to Ashland.
