Marshfield’s volleyball team completed the 2019 regular season with a 3-0 win over visiting Elmira Tuesday night in Coos Bay. The win, coupled with Cottage Grove’s 3-1 loss at Marist Catholic, vaulted the Lady Pirates (6-4, 14-9) into a tie with the Lions (6-4, 10-10) for second place in the 4A District 4 race. The two teams will meet Wednesday night, 6:30 p.m., at Siuslaw in Florence to decide District 4’s playoff order. The two teams split their head-to-head matches this season with each winning on the other’s home court. Junction City (10-0, 18-4) beat Siuslaw 3-0 to take first place. Siuslaw (4-6, 10-11) has fourth place and Marist Catholic (4-6, 4-13) fifth. North Bend’s volleyball team fell 3-0 at home to visiting Ashland Tuesday night. The Bulldogs play at Thurston on Thursday. North Bend (7-7, 9-8) is in fifth place in the 5A Midwestern League with two matches remaining in the regular season.
