Prescription Theft, May 5

News release from the Newport PD. On April 27, 2015 at approximately 11:30 a.m., Newport Police Officers were dispatched on a report of a physical altercation occurring at the Pinewood Manor Apartments, located at 225 NW 6th St. Officers were advised that two adult males were physically fighting in an apartment, and that other residents were trying to intervene. Newport Officers arrived and contacted the victim, who reported Waylon Lee Hudnell-Almas, age 24 of Newport, had attempted to steal his prescription drugs. The victim reported he had suspected Hudnell-Almas of stealing his prescriptions in the past. Hudnell-Almas was the victim’s state-provided caregiver. The victim reported that today he had witnessed Hudnell-Almas attempting to conceal drugs in his pocket. The victim grabbed Hudnell-Almas, and a fight ensued. The fight was finally broken up when a neighbor intervened. When contacted by Police Officers, Hudnell-Almas admitted to having a drug addiction problem. He stated he had used the victim’s prescription drugs. Hudnell-Almas was arrested and transported to the Lincoln County Jail. He was charged with Robbery 3rd Degree, Assault 4th Degree, and Theft 3rd Degree. His bail was set at $15,000.
