A 2.9-magnitude earthquake shook the junction of two fault lines that begin in Northern California and then run parallel with the Oregon Coast. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake occurred at 10:03 a.m. (UTC), Sept. 22, and was located 36km south to southwest of Ferndale, CA at Cape Mendocino.
