Two small earthquakes shook the Cape Mendocino area of Northern California Saturday, April 18. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the first was a 2.9-magnitude earthquake, and the second 2.7. Both were located close to the junction of where two fault lines begin that then run North into Canada but parallel with the Oregon Coast. Early Sunday morning, a 3.7-magnitude quake was also recorded in the same Cape Mendocino area, but west of Petrolia, CA. That was followed by a 2.6-magnitude quake west to northwest of Petrolia, CA.
