Some serious shakers hit the Cape Mendocino area of Northern California Thursday, Dec. 8, where two fault lines begin that run parallel with the Oregon Coast.  According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the largest was a 6.5-magnitude quake that occurred just before 7 a.m., and was located 100 miles west of Ferndale, CA in the Pacific Ocean.  A 4.7-magnitude quake occurred earlier nearly the same distance from Ferndale, and a 2.9-magnitude was recorded just off Rio Dell, CA.
