The two fault lines that run parallel with the Oregon Coast were highly active Monday, Dec. 20. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 4.4-magnitude quake was recorded off the Central Oregon Coast about 250-miles west on the outer fault line. However, at the southern end, a cluster of quakes were recorded with the largest at 6.2-magnitude west of Petrolia, Ca near Cape Mendocino in Northern California. The other quakes were 4.3-magnitude west of Ferndale, CA, to 2.8-magnitude west to southwest of Petrolia, CA. About 20 quakes in all have been recorded so far in the area.
