A 3.1-magnitude earthquake was recorded at the southern junction of the two fault lines that run parallel with the Oregon Coast, Friday, Dec. 23. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake was located west to northwest of Petrolia, CA near Cape Mendocino in Northern California. On Saturday, Dec. 24, 2022, the USGS reported a 4.2-magnitude earthquake East of Hydesville, CA, also near Cape Mendocino and in the same area as the cluster of quakes recorded the previous week. On Sunday, Dec. 25, a 3.3-magnitude quake was located west of Petrolia, CA and a 2.5-magnitude was located in the same area Sunday, but southwest of Ferndale, CA.
