A 2.6-magnitude earthquake was recorded at the south junction of the two fault lines that run parallel with the Oregon Coast Saturday, Dec. 31. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake was located southwest of Ferndale, CA. On Saturday, two quakes hit the same area, a 2.8-magnitude west to southwest of Ferndale, CA, and 2.9-magnitude south of Humboldt Hill, CA, all three near Cape Mendocino in Northern California. On Sunday, Jan. 1, 2023, another big quake shook the junction. The USGS reports the quake at 5.4-magnitude, southeast of Rio Dell, CA.
