According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake was located west to northwest of Petrolia, CA near Cape Mendocino in Northern California. On Monday morning, July 24, 2023, a 3.1-magnitude quake shook the southern end. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake was located west of Rio Dell, CA, also near Cape Mendocino.
