The southern end of the two fault lines that run parallel with the Oregon Coast continued with activity early Saturday, March 24. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the 2.5-magnitude quake was located west to northwest of Petrolia, CA near Cape Mendocino. There was also a 2.5-magnitude quake recorded in the Molalla area of the North Willamette Valley in Oregon. A larger 3.5-magnitude quake was recorded off the Oregon Coast Saturday as well. It was located near the outer fault line within the Cascadia Subduction Zone. On Monday, March 26, a 2.9-magnitude quake was recorded on the inner fault line near Cape Mendocino, west to northwest of Bayview, CA.
