A couple of significant earthquakes were recorded just off Cape Menocino in Northern California Saturday, Sept. 3, where two fault lines begin that run parallel with the Oregon Coast. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.6-magnitude quake was recorded at 3:27 (UTC) and was located 103km west of Ferndale, CA in the Pacific Ocean. The smaller quake, 3.0-magnitude, occurred Friday, Sept. 2, 9:25 p.m. (UTC) and was locate d159km west of Crescent City, CA. On Sunday, Sept. 4, a 2.8-magnitude quake also occurred in the Cape Mendocino area, 3km west of Bayview, CA at 4:35 p.m.
