The fault lines that run parallel with the Oregon Coast were active with five sizable earthquakes early Sunday morning, Sept. 17, 2023. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.6-magnitude quake was located west of Port McNeill, Canada, just inside the outer fault line near the northern junction of the two. A 4.5-magnitude was recorded nearby on the inner fault line. A 4.3-magnitde followed a little south on the inner fault line near Vancouver Island, Canada. Later in the day, another 5.6-magnitude and a 4.1-magnitude followed in the same area west of Port McNeill, Canada.
