News release from the Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office. On 08/11/2014 at about 0800 hours Coos County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to Bay Area Hospital for an adult female there reporting she had been raped. Deputies arrived and contacted a 46 year old female reporting that she had been raped at allocation in the Millington area south of Coos Bay. On 08/12/2014 at 1300 hours, as a result of the investigation Sheriff’s Deputies served a search warrant at 93685 McKenna Lane, Millington area, Coos Bay, Oregon. As a result 42 year old Timothy Wayne Ashmus was arrested for Rape I, Sexual Abuse I, and Strangulation. Mr. Ashmus was transported and booked into the Coos County Jail along with the additional charge of Probation Violation. The investigation is continuing.
