Curry County is one of three rural counties in Oregon earmarked for a limited supply of rapid Coronavirus tests. The State received 15 of the machines from the federal government and had directed that three go to Curry General Hospital in Gold Beach, as well as Morrow County and Lake County. Curry County will receive 48 tests according to Governor Kate Brown. “I want to be very clear: the number of testing kits we have received from the federal government for these new machines does not even come close to approaching the need we have in Oregon right now.” The Abbott ID NOW machines reportedly can detect a positive result in five-minutes. Testing is still not available to the general public. A doctor can order the test based on the patient’s symptoms.
