Already under Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection, C&K Market, the parent company to Ray’s Food Place, laid off another 45 employees Tuesday, Jan. 7.  This time the lay-offs occurred within the Brookings-based grocer’s corporate offices at Brookings and Medford.  C&K market previously closed about one-third of its grocery stores when it filed for bankruptcy in Eugene, Nov. 19, 2013.  The company began in 1956 and now has 44 grocery stores in Oregon and Northern California.  Company officials blame increased competition from big-box stores for its financial struggles.
