Reckless Driver, July 12

News release NBPD. On 7-11-16 at about 1120hrs, North Bend Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a reckless driver coming into our city. The vehicle was described as a white 1997 Hyundai Elantra bearing Oregon License plate WEA-847. The white Hyundai had been involved in a crash on Cape Arago Highway driving recklessly, and did not stop. Two citizens and an off duty Coos County Sheriff’s Deputy were behind the vehicle, keeping it in site to report to the police. North Bend Police Officer Jason Griggs had just dropped his Drug Detection K-9 off at the groomers. The white Hyundai and two following vehicles passed by Officer Griggs. Both the citizens and off duty deputy were telling Officer Griggs to stop the Hyundai. Officer Griggs turned on his overhead emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop. The driver of the Hyundai who was later identified as Lawrence Proudlock age 57. Proudlock failed to yield to Officer Griggs. Proudlock ran through three red lights and made several unsignaled lane changes. Proudlock almost almost hit several people during the pursuit. Proudlock stopped his vehicle in the 400 block of Virginia of North Bend. Proudlock was taken into custody for Reckless Driving, Felony Elude, Resisting Arrest and Reckless Endangering. Officers from Coos Bay Police Department, Coos County Sheriff’s Department, Oregon State Police and North Bend Police Department all assisted in taking Proudlock into custody. Proudlock was transported to Bay Area Hospital for medical clearance prior to going to jail. Proudlock was admitted to Bay Area Hospital for a mental health evaluation.
