Recreational crabbing is open once again between Port Orford and the California border on the South Oregon Coast.  State officials closed the recreational crabbing because of high levels of a deadly toxin found in Dungeness Crabs.  Recreational crabbing is also available from Cannon Beach to the Columbia River on the North Oregon Coast. The Domoic Acid threat has already resulted in the delay to the start of the commercial season, which usually occurs on Dec. 1.  Last year, the deadly toxin delayed the start of the commercial season until Jan. 4, 2016.  Testing continues on a weekly basis.
