Spring Chinook season extended on Three Rivers
The spring Chinook salmon and summer steelhead season on Three Rivers has been extended by two weeks, closing July 16 instead of July 1, 2014, under temporary rules approved by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.  The seasons have been extended to allow anglers greater opportunity to harvest hatchery spring Chinook, as the number of fish in the river will exceed needs for hatchery broodstock.  The temporary rule applies to Three Rivers, a tributary of the Nestucca River, from its mouth near Hebo upstream approximately 2 ¼ miles to the fishing deadline at the fish weir below Cedar Creek Hatchery.  The bag limit is two adult fin-clipped salmon or steelhead per day. Gear is restricted to the use of leaders 36 inches or less and single-point hooks with a 3/8-inch gap (appr. #2) or smaller.

Leaburg Hatchery show pond to close beginning July 7
The trout and sturgeon show pond at Leaburg Hatchery will be closed for renovation from Monday, July 7 until further notice.  The show pond is a popular attraction where visitors to the hatchery can feed large rainbow trout and view huge sturgeon. It will remain closed for four to six weeks while existing facilities are upgraded and ADA accessibility is improved. During this time, the show pond will be off-limits to the public but the rest of the hatchery will be open as usual during daylight hours.  The boat launch area below Leaburg Dam also will remain open.
