As severe rain and wind storms continue to impact communities throughout the Pacific Northwest, the Red Cross Cascades Region is responding to help residents seek immediate relief and begin to recover in areas affected by flooding, road closures, landslides and power outages. Area residents in need of assistance may call the Red Cross at (888) 680-1455. In Washington, a Red Cross shelter is currently open at Kelso High School (1904 Allen St, Kelso, WA 98626) where residents can find a warm and dry place to stay, meals and beverages, clean-up kits, disaster health services and emotional support. Updated information about the storms and resources for recovery are available at this location as well. In Oregon, a disaster resource center is open at Clatskanie High School (471 SW Bel Air Drive, Clatskanie, OR) where information and recovery resources, including clean-up kits, are available for affected residents. The Red Cross will be conducting community outreach in storm-affected areas on Sunday, December 13. Red Cross volunteers will be distributing clean-up kits, supplies, snacks, and water and providing recovery assistance to individuals and families affected by the storms at the following locations: * Kelso, WA- 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. (1904 Allen St, Kelso, WA 98626); * Kalama, WA- mobile delivery around the affected areas; * Wheeler, OR- mobile delivery around the affected areas; * Rockaway and Garibaldi, OR — 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (276 Hwy 101); * Clatskanie Disaster Resource Center, OR — 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. (471 SW Bel Air Drive, Clatskanie) and mobile delivery around the affected areas; * Vernonia, OR – 11 a.m.- 4 p.m. (gravel lot next Shell Station). On Sunday, Red Cross teams will be conducting disaster assessments in Columbia, Cowlitz, Tillamook, and Wahkiakum Counties. On Saturday, December 12, Red Cross teams conducted disaster assessments in Pacific, Multnomah, and Clackamas Counties. Red Cross caseworkers worked with affected families in Clackamas, Clark, Columbia, Cowlitz, Multnomah, and Pacific counties to begin the recovery process and distributed clean-up kits in Clatskanie, Johnson Creek, Kelso, Raymond, Rockaway, and Vernonia.
