Kingfisher Rd., Charleston, CCSO release – On March7th, 2019 at 2:11 PM, a Deputy with the Coos County Sheriff’s Office contacted three individuals on Charleston Road near Metcalf Road in Coos Bay. Two of the individuals provided their names and the other the Deputy recognized from previous contacts. The Deputy checked them through the state and national database after the contact was finished. The Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center advised the Deputy that 22 year old Ronald Walter had active warrants out for his arrest. The Deputy contacted Walter in the video lottery area of the Portside Restaurant. As the Deputy was escorting Ronald Walter out of the restaurant, Walter began running from the Deputy on foot. The Deputy caught Walter outside the front door of the Portside Restaurant. When the Deputy grabbed Walter, Walter spun, falling to the ground and causing the Deputy to run into a pedestrian’s vehicle, causing damage. Walter got up and began running from the Deputy. The Deputy caught up to Ronald Walter again and grabbed him. The Deputy was attempting to take Ronald to the ground when his civilian passenger and a Coos Bay Port of Security Officer grabbed Ronald Walter and assisted the Deputy in taking Walter to the ground. Walter gave up and was taken into custody without further incident. The Coos County Sheriff’s Office fleet manager was called to the scene and made arraignments with the owner of the vehicle that was damaged. The Deputy sustained minor injuries that did not require medical attention. Walter was transported to the Coos County Jail and booked and lodge for a Bench Probation Warrant, a Contempt of Court Warrant, Escape in the Third Degree, Criminal Mischief in the First Degree, Resisting Arrest, and Assault on a Public Safety Officer.
