News release from the Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office. On March 23, 2015, at about 1630 hours, Coos County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the Hauser area, north of North Bend for a report of a wanted subject there. Deputies were told that the wanted subject, Kenneth Mullins Jr.,36 years of age of Charleston, Oregon was at 69184 Wildwood Road. Mr. Mullins had two active felony warrants for his arrest. Sheriff’s Deputies arrived at the address and located Mr. Mullins there. When Deputies advised Mr. Mullins he was under arrest, he took off running into the woods. Deputies pursued Kenneth Mullins on foot into the woods for a short time, until the suspect began reaching for something in his pocket. At that time, Deputies backed off and waited for additional units. Deputies and responding officers set up a perimeter in the area. A police K9 from the Coos Bay Police Department was called in to assist. While Deputies and officers were on the K9 track, a Trooper with the Oregon State Police located Kenneth Mullins running across Wildwood Road near the Hauser Church. Officers were able to place Mullins into custody without further incident. Deputies arrested Kenneth Mullins Jr, 36 years old of North Bend, for Resisting Arrest, Escape III and two active felony warrants out of Coos County . Mullins was transported to the Coos County Jail, where he was booked and lodged. The Coos County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by Oregon State Police, Coos Bay Police, North Bend Police, and Confederated Tribal Police.
