Pacific Power release – CRESCENT CITY, CA (Sept. 7, 2023) – With wildfire risk diminished in the area around the transmission lines serving Crescent City and Del Norte County, Pacific Power is anticipating beginning the process of re-energizing those lines starting as early as Sunday, September 10. This is contingent on coordination with Fire Incident Management Teams and Del Norte County Emergency Operations Center to make sure it is safe to do so. During this process, the generators currently providing power to customers in the area will be taken off-line one at a time, while crews work to switch substations back over to the transmission lines. When this switch-over occurs, customers should expect a brief outage while the necessary connections are re-established. Those outages should only last 1-2 hours and customers will be notified ahead of time. Customers can see a full schedule of when outages in their area will occur on the Pacific Power website.
