Coos Forest Protective Association (CFPA) responded to a fire in the Ridge Road area of the Coos County forest around 1pm Sunday afternoon. The fire was caused by a recreationist and burned ¾ of an acre in a stand of 4-year old trees. Firefighters quickly caught the fire, but it is a reminder that we are in fire season and everybody needs to do their part to prevent wildfires. Remember, when your recreation activities involve being out in the forest to be respectful to the landowners and their land. These are working forests that provide jobs and income for all of Coos County and we all need to do our part to protect them. • Use of exploding targets is prohibited. • Use of tracer and incendiary ammunition is prohibited. For more information go to CFPA on the web at www.coosfpa.net, follow us on Facebook and twitter, or call the closure line 541-267-1789.
