A 60-year old male was arrested Monday, Oct. 12, after he allegedly attempted to rob a taxi cab driver near the northside of the Public Library between Union and Connecticut avenues. According to a news release from NBPD, Daniel William Duran, Coos Bay, “reportedly threatened the driver of the Yellow Cab with a gun and demanded his money.” The suspect fled the area with an undisclosed amount of cash. However, he was apprehended on the corner of California and Sherman. “It was determined was not in possession of a firearm.” The money was recovered and returned. Duran was transported to the Coos Co. Jail in Coquille on charges of Robbery II and Probation Violation.
