Robbery in La Pine, July 31

On 07/28/2017 at approximately 0945 hours, Oregon State Police Troopers and Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to a call of a Robbery at the Shop Smart Store in La Pine. On arrival, they learned about a suspect, who fled in a dark colored vehicle. Deputies and Troopers immediately started a search of the area and were not able to locate the suspect. Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office Detectives also arrived on scene to assist in this investigation. The investigation revealed the suspect is a white, male approximately 5’06”-5’10” tall with a thin to medium build. He is estimated to be in his mid to late twenties. The suspect was wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt with a red shirt, black shoes and black jeans. The suspect had dark hair and facial hair. The suspect entered the store, took a couple of items and walked to a check out register. No weapons were observed. The suspect then handed the employee at the register a note demanding cash. The employee who was in fear for their safety opened the till and handed the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash from the register. The suspect then left the store, walked to his vehicle in the parking lot and drove away from the scene. This is an active investigation at this time.
