News release CCSO.  On May 27, 2017, at about 2345 hours, deputies stopped a 1999 Nissan Pathfinder on Highway 101 near Adams Lane in Coos Bay for failing to maintain lane. Deputies identified the driver as Leon Luck, 31 years old of Coos Bay. Luck’s driving status was Driving while Suspended Misdemeanor. There was also a probable cause affidavit for the arrest of Luck stemming from a Robbery investigation on May 19, 2017. The charges from that case were: Robbery I, Kidnapping I, Burglary II, Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Theft II. Luck was also on supervised Parole. Luck was arrested for Driving While Suspended, Parole Violation and the probable cause arrest charges. The investigation into the robbery is still ongoing. The drug detection canine from North Bend Police arrived on scene and deployed to checked the vehicle. The drug detection canine indicated a positive alert on the vehicle. The Deputies searched the vehicle and located (3) glass methamphetamine pipes inside. It is suspected the pipes have methamphetamine residue within them.  The pipes will be sent to the Oregon State Police Crime Lab for analysis and charges will be referred to the District Attorney for those. Luck was transported to the Coos County Jail, where he was booked and lodged. Luck has no bail for the Parole Violation and his bail for the other charges is $1,060,000.00. Deputies conducting the stop and investigation were working DUII Enforcement for the Holiday Weekend. Deputies were assisted on scene by North Bend Police Department.
