A stolen vehicle case in Douglas Co. Saturday night, March 9, ended with a shootout, a fire, and the discovery of human remains in the burned out vehicle. The vehicle was reportedly stolen about 6 p.m. from Love’s Truck Stop on I-5 at the Hwy. 99 Interchange. The vehicle, reportedly from Eugene, was carrying multiple weapons and ammunition. A chase ended in a field of a ranch and the driver allegedly started shooting at law enforcement officers. Officers returned fire and the vehicle began smoking before it caught on fire. An investigation is continuing.
